Excessive Links Are Bad
Searchengine Land just reported that Google recently added the word “excessive” to their link schemes Webmaster Guidelines Page. The Google Webmaster guidelines page are several pages designed to help webmasters get better SEO results. As everyone should be aware, your site’s ranking in Google search results is partly based on analysis of those sites that link to you. The better quality of sites, the relevance of these sites and the number of sites that link to you can help you rank higher in the search results. The quantity, quality, and relevance of links count towards your rating.
Google is now saying excessive links will hurt your natural rankings. The obvious question is what is excessive? Dictionary.com defines excessive as “going beyond the usual, necessary, or proper limit or degree; characterized by excess” besides the defining of a word with a word, that is pretty vague, does anyone know how Google defines excessive?
